Requirements To Apply For The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program

The Atlantic Immigration Pilot is an innovative approach to addressing the Canadian Labour market difficulties, and employers of Nova Scotia can utilize the Pilot for hiring foreign workers.

The Atlantic Immigration pilot program was initiated in 2017. It was an essential element of a collaborative effort to boost economic development in Canada’s Atlantic regions by bringing skilled workers to these provinces.

The Atlantic Regions comprises New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.

On March 1st 1, 2019, the Canadian Government announced a two-year expansion for the Atlantic Immigration Pilot and even modifications that allow students from abroad (Alumni) an opportunity to apply, and a more flexible way to hire health professionals and a more flexible approach to the qualifications for the temporary work permit.

Eligibility

To be eligible to participate in to be eligible for Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program, applicants need to have a valid job offer. To get an official Canadian job offer that’s valid for a Canada visa for purposes, the applicant has to receive a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). It’s not required to be done for Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program.

Instead, the offer must be made by an employer that has been identified. In 2018, the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program made plans to allow many people, i.e. the maximum number of 2,500 foreigners, into the Atlantic provinces to increase to 4,000 by 2020.

The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program is an agreement between the Government of Canada and the 4 Atlantic regions:

  1. New Brunswick
  2. Newfoundland and Labrador
  3. Nova Scotia
  4. Prince Edward Island

The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) permits companies located in the Atlantic region to employ competent foreigners to fill vacancies they aren’t capable of filling locally.

Prerequisites for qualification

Canadian Employers can hire through one of the three programs of the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program:

  1. The Atlantic High-Skilled Program
  2. The Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program and
  3. The Atlantic International Graduate Program

Every program has its own set of requirements. These are:

  • Finding a job with one of the Atlantic regions of Canada
  • Your talents, skills, as well as your education, experience and training
  • Your ability to converse either in English or French
  • Your ability to assist your family and yourself in Canada
  • Your family intends to reside within the Atlantic territory.

Atlantic High-Skilled Program

In general, you must:

  • You must have worked in an administration/management, a professional or skilled/technical job for a year.
  • It would help if you had a Canadian secondary school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Do a test on your language proficiency to show that you speak effectively in English or French.

Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program

  • You should have held an occupation that requires a secondary school education and explicit training on the job for not less than one year.
  • It would help if you had something similar to the Canadian secondary school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
  • Do a test of your language proficiency to prove that you can communicate the message in English or French.
  • You can show that you can support yourself and your family members when you visit Canada.

Atlantic International Graduate Program

After all, has been said and completed, you can:

  • You must have a degree, certificate, or other certification from an openly funded organization within an Atlantic region.
  • You must have lived in an Atlantic region for not less than 16 consecutive months over the two years before obtaining your diploma, degree or certificate.
